		<!-- END ODIOGO LISTEN BUTTON v2.5.7 (WP) -->{"id":234,"date":"2009-04-29T14:00:33","date_gmt":"2009-04-29T14:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slewth.wordpress.com\/?p=234"},"modified":"2009-04-29T14:00:33","modified_gmt":"2009-04-29T14:00:33","slug":"technology-enhanced-learning-digital-inclusion-forum","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slewth.co.uk\/blog\/2009\/04\/29\/technology-enhanced-learning-digital-inclusion-forum\/","title":{"rendered":"Technology Enhanced Learning: Digital Inclusion Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n\t\t<!-- BEGIN ODIOGO LISTEN BUTTON v2.5.7 (WP) -->\r\n\t\t<script type=\"text\/javascript\" language=\"javascript\">\r\n\t\t<!--\r\n\t\t\/\/ ODIOGO_START:do_NOT_remove_this_comment\r\n\t\tshowOdiogoReadNowButton (\"687068\", \"Technology Enhanced Learning: Digital Inclusion Forum\", \"234\", 290, 55);\r\n\t\t\/\/ -->\r\n\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<br\/>\r\n\t\t<script type=\"text\/javascript\" language=\"javascript\">\r\n\t\t<!--\r\n\t\tshowInitialOdiogoReadNowFrame (\"687068\", \"234\", 290, 0);\r\n\t\t\/\/ ODIOGO_END:do_NOT_remove_this_comment\r\n\t\t\/\/ -->\r\n\t\t<\/script>\r\n\t\t<!-- END ODIOGO LISTEN BUTTON v2.5.7 (WP) -->\r\n\t\t\n<figure id=\"attachment_235\" aria-labelledby=\"figcaption_attachment_235\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 204px\"><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slewth.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/tel-logo.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-235\" title=\"tel-logo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.slewth.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/04\/tel-logo.gif\" alt=\"Technology Enhanced Learning Logo\" width=\"200\" height=\"92\" \/><\/a><\/span><figcaption id=\"figcaption_attachment_235\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Technology Enhanced Learning<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Yesterday saw the launch of the newly formed <a title=\"Digital Inclusion Forum\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/digital_inclusion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Digital Inclusion Forum<\/a> set up by the <a title=\"Technology Enhanced Learning Programme\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/\" target=\"_blank\">Technology Enhanced Learning Programme<\/a>, which is funded by the <a title=\"Economic and Social Research Council\" href=\"http:\/\/www.esrc.ac.uk\" target=\"_blank\">ESRC<\/a> and EPSRC  and directed by Richard Noss here in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>In 2008 <a title=\"British Education and Communications Technology Agency\" href=\"http:\/\/www.becta.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">BECTA<\/a>&#8216;s Disadvantaged Learners Report observed that the lack of a single voice in UK policy championing disadvantaged learners has led to unhelpful fragmentation &#8211; particularly in addressing digital disadvantage across education.\u00a0 Hopefully this Forum will help to draw together disparate resources and streams of research and practice to give more cohesion to those seeking to mitigate exclusion within technology enhanced learning.<\/p>\n<p>The Digital Inclusion Forum has two key purposes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To identify key  inclusion-related questions and issues for research into digital inclusion  issues in education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>To discuss and evaluate the contribution that the  TEL research programme can make to the digital inclusion research  agenda.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to<a title=\"Jane Seale at Southampton University\" href=\"http:\/\/www.education.soton.ac.uk\/staff\/JaneSeale\" target=\"_blank\"> Jane Seale<\/a>, the group convener, there will be two main phases of activity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The first  phase (May-November 2009) will be the development of an online space for sharing  digital inclusion related resources, discussing inclusion-related issues and  scoping priorities for digital inclusion research. It is hoped the online space will  be a platform for the collaborative writing of a web-based document that starts  to draw together what the key issues are in relation to digital inclusion  research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The second phase (December 2009-September 2010) will involve  the setting up of a commentary group who, drawing on the web-based document will  co-author a TEL branded publication which offers a commentary on digital  inclusion research and highlights the contributions of the TEL projects to the  field.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The forum welcomes input, with invitations being issues specifically around contributions to an emergent Digital Inclusion Reference Library and posts to the new discussion forum.<\/p>\n<p>To add any digital inclusion references that  you think are relevant and make a significant contribution to the field visit: <a href=\"\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/tools\/digital_inclusion_references.html\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/tools\/digital_inclusion_references.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To add to a conversation thread or post a response on the Discussion Forum visit: <a href=\"\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/digital_inclusion\/forum\/digital-inclusion\/\" target=\"_blank\">http:\/\/www.tlrp.org\/tel\/digital_inclusion\/forum\/digital-inclusion\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The forum also notably draws on blogs and other resources tagged with &#8216;digitalinclusion&#8217;.
