It would be a real blow to web accessibility to see it go.<\/p>\n<p>If you care about web accessibility, please show your support by putting your name on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petitionspot.com\/petitions\/SavetheInstitute\">petition to save the Accessibility Institute<\/a> that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.knowbility.org\/\">Knowbility<\/a> have set up. It only takes a few seconds to do.<\/p>\n<p>There are some great thoughts and comments from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.petitionspot.com\/petitions\/SavetheInstitute\/signatures\/\">people who have signed the petition<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iheni.com\/petition-to-save-john-slatins-accessibility-institute\/\"><cite title=\"iheni.com: Petition to save John Slatin\u2019s Accessibility Institute\">Henny Swan<\/cite><\/a> has also given some reasons to keep the Institute going on her blog:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Reasons for saving the Accessibility Institute include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Need for research based findings to support accessible design practice. <\/li>\n<li>Opportunity for a world class institution like UT to serve as an example to other institutions. <\/li>\n<li>Place where emerging practices can be tested and modelled. <\/li>\n<li>Contributions to international body of knowledge on inclusion. <\/li>\n<li>Maintain thought leadership in Texas, easily disseminated to state agencies that have accessibility mandates. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Thanks for taking the time to read this.
