Breaking with usual form, I&#8217;d like to introduce the\u00a0opening track on <a title=\"MAYA on wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maya_(M.I.A._album)\">MIA&#8217;s 2010 album <\/a><em><a title=\"MAYA on wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maya_(M.I.A._album)\">MAYA<\/a>. <\/em>This song\u00a0&#8216;The Message&#8217; uses phrases from the traditional spiritual\u00a0<a title=\"Wikipedia on Dem Bones\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dem_Bones\">&#8216;Dem Bones&#8217;<\/a>\u00a0integrating technology, corporations and governments into the connected body parts. The song is short at just under a minute, but there is plenty here for those interested in beginning discussions of biopower and governmentality in cultural studies and\/or critical approaches to science and technology with students. To clarify: I&#8217;m not reproducing this with a focus on literal consipiracy.
